the public school system in Ja has Primary and Seconday levels. We do have a few junior high schools but those are privately operated. Maths, English, Social studies, and science subjects are taught in all primary schools.. Primary schools do about 10-12 subjects inclusive of art and craft, (not Arts as you know it) physical education, and they all participate in sporting activites (track and field, football, cricket, netball etc) .
the High Schools focus on maths, English, computer Tech, History, sciences, Business subjects. Sports are also included in the curriculum.
Music, dance and Drama, speech and the creative Arts in general are taught in High schools. Indeed, annually at Festival (Independence) the schools participate in national competitions islandwide. Creative Dance is not really a big part of our culture, more...folk dance, reggae, pop.
the schools need a lot of music equipments ie the children are talented, but the facilities are limited. Nontheless, they do well.
I hope I answered your questions.
let me know..
